STEAM State of Mind

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. This does not mean just adding Fine Arts into a traditional STEM curriculum. Students learn how these different academic areas intersect and intertwine. Students have the opportunity to engage in projects that integrate these subjects to build the learning foundation that will prepare them for careers of the future. Fairmont High School has the broad variety of course offerings, highly-skilled teachers, and state-of-the-art facilities to offer a STEAM education that cultivates learning for the 21st Century.

Portrait of a Firebird

There was a time when a high school graduate only needed a basic set of skills and a high school diploma to begin a successful career. The careers and social conditions of the future require more than just the basics, so a high school has to provide more. Fairmont HS knows that students still need the basics. They must also leave with an ability to be adaptable to solve future problems, be thoughtful citizens, and build healthy relationships at home and work. “The Portrait of a Graduate” was developed based on what it means to graduate as a Firebird with the future in mind.
