Why I Became an Educator

I love working in a high school because it is an opportunity to impact an entire community. Working in education allows me to help students grow academically and emotionally. The most rewarding moments are when alumni come back to talk about success after high school or when you see parents out in the community and they share information about where their graduation is now and what they are doing. Everyday brings new conversations, situations, and celebrations and those are the reasons I love being a principal.

What excites me about my role at Fairmont?

Everyday is different and I am thankful for a job that is intellectually stimulating and emotionally compelling. I am grateful and humbled to be in a leadership position where I can brainstorm big and small ideas to impact the culture of our school community and then work to make those ideas realities.

My favorite thing about being a Firebird is…

Being in a environment where all are welcomed no matter what your academic, physical, or social abilities may be…we all bleed blue.

Funniest thing a student said to me in the last few weeks…

“Do you have an extra sock?” I had to ask… Just one?

A sense of belonging and purpose. “Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name” and I hope all Firebirds have that feeling that they could walk in to their advisory teacher’s room to a warm, welcoming home feeling.
