Being a Firebird
Blazing Trails for Others to Follow
We believe that each person connected to Fairmont serves in many different roles during their experience at Fairmont High School. Sometimes our students teach one another. Our teachers learn from our students and from one another. Many teachers coach athletics and many coaches teach players about a lot more than just how to be a skilled athlete.
We believe everyone has the capacity and should have the opportunity to lead in their own way. Being a Firebird means leading other students… Whether that means leading other students by examples of good behavior, leading the team to a win, or leading educational initiatives in the community.
The Student
We are all learning. What starts in the classroom, we work to build into a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime.
I remember the teachers who made personal connections with me.
The Educator
Educating happens at the front of the class, in the hallways, and on the field. We celebrate our teachers. We also recognize that everyone on our staff plays a role in educating our students.
Students in my class need to know that they are respected, appreciated, and valued as a part of the classroom community.
The Leader
Leadership isn’t just about a position or title. There’s so much experience and knowledge in the people who walk the halls of Fairmont. This school encourages certain qualities that show up in the people who we call leaders.
I’m in Class Council, and I think it really helps my leadership skills and being involved in the school overall.
Our Pride
“By respecting my students’ individual needs and pushing them to grow from wherever they are, I am able to develop positive relationships with my students year after year.”
